Do you recive a Purple Heart in the military if...?

if you were igned kitcheen duty and you chop off a portion of your thumb trying to prepare meal in time for soldiers? I know now a days most cooking jobs are sold to other companys but what about in the olden days when they had people with in the military do that kind of jobs.
