Has anyone ever stayed in the victorian hotel in the french quarter?

my husband and myself are travelling to new orleans from scotland on the 2nd april.I would love to find out more information on the victorian hotel in the french quarter where we will be staying for 2 weeks.I wonder how far it is from bourbon street and all the other touristy places.Im told half a block but wonder if it is or is it a wee bit further as brochures do tend to exagerate
