I am buying a home in Indiana -closing is 10-1-07. Who has to pay the property tax bill that is due in Nov?

In Indiana, property taxes are for 2006, but payable in 2007. The house has been empty for the last couple of years, therefore there was no mortgage or homestead exemption. I will file for my mortgage and homestead exemption once we close (I think the filing deadline is either May or June 1st.) Will I have to pay the higher tax bill?
